How much does Etsy take from a sale in 2026?
For a US seller, four fees can apply to one order: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, payment processing of 3% plus $0.25, and, only if an Etsy ad brought the buyer in, an Offsite Ads fee of 15% or 12%, capped at $100. On a $28 item with $5 shipping and no ad, that comes to $3.59, or about 11% of what the buyer paid.
Is the Etsy transaction fee charged on shipping?
Yes. Etsy charges the 6.5% transaction fee on the price you display plus what you charge for shipping and gift wrap. For US sellers it does not apply to sales tax. Free shipping moves that cost into the item price, so the fee comes out the same.
How do I calculate profit on Etsy digital products?
Set shipping and postage to zero and enter what the product costs you to make, if anything. The fees still apply: $0.20 to list, 6.5% of the price, and 3% plus $0.25 to process. On a $6 download that is $1.02 in fees, 17% of the price, because the $0.25 and $0.20 flat parts weigh most on small prices.
What is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee, and can I avoid it?
When Etsy advertises your listing off Etsy and the buyer orders within 30 days of clicking that ad, Etsy charges 15% of the order, or 12% once your shop has sold $10,000 or more over the past 365 days. The fee on one order never passes $100. Shops under the $10,000 line can opt out; shops over it take part.
