Privacy note

Last updated 12 July 2026

Whittle is a tool that helps Etsy sellers decide which listing changes to make, drafts them in the seller's own voice for the seller to place, and measures the result. This note explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it the way the product works — plainly, and without collecting more than we need.

What we collect

  • Your Etsy connection. When you connect your shop, Etsy gives us access tokens scoped to reading your listings and stats — Whittle has no write access to your shop. Those tokens are encrypted at rest and never shown to anyone.
  • Shop & listing data. Your listings (titles, tags, descriptions — drafts included), each listing's lifetime view and favorite counts, and order counts derived from your receipts. We snapshot these over time to measure change.
  • Your contact email, if you give one for the weekly email or the early-access list.
  • Usage & billing status. Which actions you ran (to enforce plan limits) and, if you subscribe, your plan status from our payments provider. We never see or store your card details.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your buyers' personal information beyond the aggregate counts Etsy already exposes. We don't use advertising or analytics trackers, and we don't sell or rent your data to anyone — ever.

How we use it

To find the few changes worth making, draft rewrites in your tone, measure what each change earned, send the weekly email if you want it, run billing, and keep the service secure. That's the whole list.

Who processes data for us

We use a small number of trusted providers, and only what each needs:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, database, and storage (your data lives here).
  • Anthropic — generates listing-text suggestions. When you ask for a rewrite, the relevant listing text is sent to be rewritten; it isn't used to train their models.
  • Stripe — payments. They handle your card details directly; we only receive your subscription status.
  • Resend — delivers the weekly email.

AI, and your control over it

Whittle uses AI to draft listing copy, which you review, edit, and place on Etsy yourself. Every prepared rewrite includes Etsy's required AI-disclosure line, and we check the maker attributes first, so your shop stays compliant. You always place the words, and you always have the final say.

Security

Etsy tokens are encrypted at rest, everything is served over HTTPS, and we request the narrowest Etsy permissions the features need. We don't store payment-card data. No system is perfectly secure, but security is designed in from the foundation, not bolted on.

Keeping & deleting your data

We keep your shop data while your shop is connected. Disconnecting deletes it — a 14-day grace window (reconnect within it and everything is restored), then permanent removal. Records of real charges are kept as accounting and tax law requires. If you joined the early-access list, we keep your email only until launch or until you ask us to remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR/UK GDPR and CCPA), you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your data, or object to a use. Email hello@usewhittle.com and we'll handle it. We won't treat you differently for exercising a right.

Cookies

One essential cookie keeps you signed in. No advertising or analytics cookies.

Children

Whittle is for Etsy sellers and isn't directed at anyone under 18.

Changes

If this note changes we'll update the date above, and we'll flag anything material.
